DESIGN PACKAGE PROCESS

Step 1: Acquaintance & Discussion

To know about your needs and requirements, we start with an initial consultation meeting. This will enable us to gauge the scope of work you need from us and will result in a proposal for our services as well as a breakdown of our fees.

Step 2: Define & Inspiration

Once we have come to an contract agreement, we will document existing conditions of your site through field studies and collect relevant architectural data to define the framework of the project and come up with a brainstorm of ideas. This includes the big ideas: the “look,” the color schemes, the mood, based on the inspiration pictures we will be requesting from you to help us understand your preferred design.

Step 3: Illustrate & Develop

Based on the information gathered in the previous step, we will then present 2-3 rough sketches option for your consideration. You will also have the opportunity to request any modifications you’d like us to make to your preferred design.

Once you have selected a design option that best suits your needs, we will begin the process of refining the design. At this point, we will take the schematic design you selected, as well as any requested modifications, and revise the design as necessary.

Step 4: Document

At this phase of the design process, we will have settled on a final design and will begin preparing drawings and technical specifications necessary for bidding, construction, and permit application. This includes structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and electronic plans. Contractors will use these detailed drawings and specifications to prepare for the next phase in the architectural design process.

Step 5: Execute & Inspect

Finally, once you have selected a contractor and construction is under way, we will administer the construction process and, visit the site occasionally during construction, and address any field conditions as they arise.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

Finally, when exterior is finished, and if needed for interior service, pieces are moved into place and positioned according to the design plans created by FY Designs and approved by the client. Once furnishing is completed, a project is considered to be completed.
